| SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY | |
The Sheffield Wednesday London Supporters Club (known on a day to day basis as the 'London Owls') was formed in 1974. It enjoys a very good relationship with both the main branch of the supporters club, and the football club itself as Patrons of the Sheffield Wednesday Academy. We have approximately 150 members who are primarily resident in London and across the whole of southern England, but also The Netherlands, Sweden, Thailand, and a few who have returned north, remain as honorary members. Annual fees are £10 for full membership, £15 family membership and £5.00 juniors and OAPs. Members also receive a newsletter on a regular basis. Travel to games is organised by rail, taking advantage of the various group travel discounts on offer. However, when there are insufficient numbers to travel by train, or for night games, when there is no suitable return service, then we travel in private cars. The club participates in APFSCIL football, darts and pool leagues and also take part in the Home Counties Supporters Club Quiz League and the National Federation Knockout Cup. In 1986 we formed a cricket club, playing friendlies against other football supporters clubs and local teams. Our newly re-formed eleven-a-side team is up and running and we have just won promotion back to the APFSCIL Football League Division 1. Over the last few seasons we have held numerous social eventss which have been attended by a host of ex-Wednesday favourites that include David Hirst, Paul Williams, Andy McCulloch, Danny Maddix, Phil King, Lawrie Madden, Brian Marwood and Bob Bolder. More of these are planned for the forthcoming season. Why not visit the London Owls website?
